The need for a new SigEp Home
The house on 360 N. Arkansas Avenue has been a factor in the phenomenal growth of the chapter and our prominence on campus. We have a highly visible location, located directly across from Old Main. Our chapter competes in recruiting brothers against 14 other fraternities with larger and more modern facilities. The Alumni Board and chapter officers believe that the chapter needs and deserves a fraternity house that is welcoming, serves more brothers, and anticipates the needs and changing tastes of future generations.
Arkansas Alpha now includes nearly 200 active brothers and 1,800 alumni. We are one of the largest active chapters in the national Sigma Phi Epsilon organization. The board's strategic plan is to replace the current structure with a commercial grade house that has space for ongoing events and activities to enrich and expand the SigEp experience of brothers for generations.
SigEp's brotherhood programs enabled the chapter to successfully recruit top prospects despite having and undersized, and aging facility. To assure that this success continues, join us in the campaign to replace the current house with a "home" reflecting SigEp values and legacy.
Our home, since 2008, is a cash flow positive facility, but it is showing wear. We need space and updated facilities to support the full life of a vibrant, growing and exciting fraternity chapter.
Over the past several years chapters across the Arkansas campus have either seen a completely new house built, or have undergone major renovations. In order for Arkansas Alpha to continue to provide a premier and top notch experience, it is paramount that we provide a house that matches that of our brotherhood experience.
Will you help?
The continued success of our chapter depends on our investment in a new SigEp home. A campaign study demonstrated alumni support for a $3.5 million campaign. We will pay off our mortgage, raze the current building, and replace it with a modern, welcoming home.
The new SigEp house will feature adequate meeting space for the entire chapter, resilent commercial surfaces, ADA compliant access, chapter meeting room, catering kitchen, room for 48 brothers, and one for our resident scholar. It will include the latest in energy efficiency and security systems.
